James,
I have noticed BD discs and ISO images (mounted with VCD) began auto-opening recently (within the last two weeks, I would guess). I assumed that I had done something with Autoplay that I was unaware of, however, I have been unable to suppress this behavior using the settings that I can find. I am using MCE 2005 on the machine, can you offer a hint what OS setting my control this behavior? I have changed the settings for each of the seven or so Autoplay cases mentioned in the properties of the drive (physical or virtual) to 'Take no action' without effecting the opening of the root directory window. I have not tried disabling AnyDVD 6.5.4.4 as I had not made any association with it. Thanks. |

Do not post your problems in other people's troubleshooting threads please. That's otherwise known as "thread hijacking". Click the link in my signature, and read fully. Thank you
This isn't an Anydvd issue. You need to find the autoplay settings for your OS and disable them. Google suffices. Also visit http://www.techsupportforum.com/878819-post10.html There are tons of different reasons why autoplay may occur: http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102...hreadID=229259 Quote:

Thank you for the implicit confirmation that this is an Autoplay issue.
I found that Microsoft's TweakUI for XP worked to disable Autoplay and the behavior I could not control with the properties of the drive itself. *** I know better than to contest with a moderator, so I will only explain the cause of my error. Please, do not take it as a backhanded slap at your authority. I assumed that confirmation of a symptom, the things I have tried to resolve it and a request for elaboration on a rather terse suggestion would be helpful to both the OP and myself. Reading your sig (as I have before) and acknowledging that it is often difficult to separate similar symptoms with different causes, I perhaps fail to appreciate the boundaries as well as I might. Since examples often improve understanding, can you tell me if any of the following would have been appropriate for me to add in the original thread? 1. Would it have been acceptable to ask for elaboration of 'check your OS settings' without mentioning my own problem? 2. Would it have been acceptable to simply mention "Gee, I have noticed that, too." 3. Would it have been acceptable to say, "I tried such-and-such and it did not help me..." Obviously, I could create a new thread and reference the content in the other thread, but that seems pretty contrived and inefficient. (But I am willing if that is the required course.) Thanks for any further explanation you are willing to offer. I will, of course, add my resolution to the original thread. |

The only appropriate course of action when replying to someone else's troubleshooting thread is to help that person. Otherwise, create a new thread, and remain in it.
![]() The only time I allow others to complain about their problems in the same thread is when there is a known Anydvd issue (such as not handling a certain disc properly). Quote:
