Do you have to connect a USB hard drive to the WD TV for it to work or is the WD TV just a converter? I've read the manual, but they only show pictures of an external hd connected. I have a hard drive to spare, but preferably I'd like to just purchase a WD TV and hook it up to my tv rather than having another box next to the tv. And if it has a hd included, how big is it?
Also, do you just install AnyDVD to it or the hard drive with movies for it to play movies back without having to use the DVDs? Thanks in advance.

Yes. The WD TV is basically a media player. I use AnyDVD and CloneDvd or Clonecd to make an .iso file and save it to an external hard drive. That HD is then hooked up to the WD TV and the player plays it from there. There is no HD in the WD TV.

The wdtv is quite small but it does need a portable usb storage device. The storage device just contains your video files. You still need your computer to make or assemble your video files and save them to the storage device you will use with the wdtv.
