Hi Everyone.
I've been using dvdfab on my desktop pc for the last few years pretty flawlessly, but as the pc was getting quite old i decided to treat my self to a brand new Sony Vaio Blu Ray laptop a couple of weeks ago, model number AW21Z/B (and very nice it is too). Anyhow i thought i'd dip my toes into the choppy waters of the blu ray ocean as i own a few now and the laptop has a built in reader and writer so i thought i would give Anydvd hd a test drive. Now i need to point out that i am not very technical at all, and all the info on the slysoft website seems to suggest it was a very straight forward operation. I'm a click on this button and click on that button kind of person i don't really understand to much computer jargon. I downloaded the latest version of Anydvd / HD & Clonedvd and unless i'm being very stupid i'm assuming these two bits of software are all that's required for copying Blu Ray discs? correct? The little Fox's head sits nicely in the toolbar and seems to detect and know what disc i put in the drive (dvd and blu ray). I then fire up Clone Dvd navigate my way to the blu ray disc in the drop down box at the top and not much happens apart from a box popping up that says: l:/VIDEO_TS.IFO:unable to open file The system cannot find the file specified. Please be sure that all required files are available then try again. I haven't got a clue what this means so any suggestions would be useful as i am planning to buy the software if it does what it says on the tin. The blu rays play perfectly on the laptop with Intervideo windvd that came pre installed on the laptop. The laptop is brand new and everything appears to be fully updated. The software appears to work with a DVD but not Blu Ray so am i missing something, or do i need to do something else? Thanks. |

Clonedvd does not and never will support Blu-ray.

CloneDVD can't handle BD media, CloneBD is currently developped which can handle BD media.

Doh!
Well boy did i misread what it said on the Tin, re-reading it i now realize what Anydvdhd actually is. It just facilitates the process. So the gist of it is that i need CloneBD which doesn't appear to yet exist in a finished form, or yet another bit of software in addition to Anydvdhd that actually does the "ripping" and burning. Is this correct? Thank you. |

It does more than facilitate. It decrypts on the fly, which allows you to watch BD discs without requiring you to rip first if you lack HDCP compliance. And Anydvd HD remains the only product that can decrypt BD+ fully.

Hi Webslinger,
A few more questions i'm afraid. In addition to AnydvdHD i have now downloaded and installed the following bits of software: Latest Java update Clown BD Imgburn My basic goal has always been to copy the main movie plus a couple of the audio tracks on to a blank blu ray. Nothing more then that, i'm not really interested in all the other interactive or making of bollocks that the BD's have on them. Once i installed the various bits of software i thought i would have a test-drive with my Duchess Blu Ray disc, it all seemed to go quite well, but i wasn't sure what was really going on and did not change any of the options or settings. After ClownBD had finished doing its thing, Imgburn fired up automatically and did "something" for about 25 mins and when it had finished it didn't do anything else and so i closed it down. I'm sorry i can not explain this in more detail but it was not obvious to me what exactly was going on. I'm sure that i should have created a few folders somewhere during the Clown BD process but unfortunately wasn't sure what i was doing so didn't. Therefore i now have quite a scattering of "items" eac3to_pass logs / meta / tsmuxer / Audio_3_English etc plus various other documents and bits of "debris" scattered all over the hard drive. There are also a couple of pretty big "items" on the hard drive i.e. Video_2.vc1 which is about 14gig and an ISO image which is about 19gig. I'm assuming these items are the main movie? if this is correct why is there a few of them and not just one? In addition to this there is another "my documents" folder within the My Documents folder which has two folders in it called BDMV & another folder called Certificate. So my questions are: 1) How can i test the file before attempting to burn it to a blank? nothing on my computer seems to play any of the "big" items / files. I also can't seem to find a file that ends with .ts but there is one in the BDMV folder called STREAM that has a folder in it that ends with .m2ts but i'm not sure what that is because i can't play it. 2) In Clown BD step 3 the section that asks Movie Output Format. What do i check? TS , M2TS, Blu-ray, Blu-ray+ ISO as i said all i want to do is burn a blu ray disc that i can play in my standalone BD player or in my laptop i don't want to save anything on my Laptop. 3) Do i need to make a few new folders on my hard drive for the following: Demux Location , Remux Location, eac3to Location & tsMuxR Location? 4) when or if i eventually manage to get a BD burned successfully what happens to all of the various folders and notes that are scattered around? do i need to delete all of this stuff? Lastly when i get a blank BD do i just follow the instructions from the Imgburn website on "how to make a BD" or is there something else i have to do? Thanks in advance for any info or advice anybody can offer, if i can get it to work successfully i'll happily buy Anydvd HD. Cheers Tony. P.S. Is there any reason why my Intervideo windvd Bd software that came with the Vaio won't play the movie files? i mean it plays Blu Ray discs without any problem. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time to be supporting third party programs. I am stretched too thin as it is here (English moderators do not work for Slysoft and volunteer their time). The questions that you currently have do not pertain specifically to Anydvd HD.
Other knowledgeable forum members will likely attempt to assist you. If you would like to contact Slysoft directly to request further assistance, you may do so here: http://www.slysoft.com/contact.html
