Default 17 Again not backingup
When I try to backup 17 Again, it gets about 44% through then hangs up on the read of the DVD.

OK, I read all that stuff. I've used ANyDVD and CloneCD for hundreds of backups. This is the second that failes the normal process.

I was able to back it up to the hard drive to 71%. Then a AnyDVD Ripper box opened with "FileIO 3 VTS_01_1.VOB 2861780992 262144. It wasn't clear if I should open a log (AnyDVD) file or not. IAC, I can't get a log to open and a rip to run.

Should I still try the beta of CloneCD?

That's a read error typically indicating a bad original disc even if it plays fine.


Post an Anydvd .zip log file

i) Ensure Anydvd is running.
ii) Put the problematic original movie dvd in your burner. Wait for Anydvd to scan the disc.
iii) Right click the red fox icon on your toolbar.
iv) Select "Create Logfile"
v) Wait for Anydvd to create a log file.
vi) A pop-up screen will appear. Take note of the location where Anydvd created the logfile and the logfile's name. Click "ok".
vii) Windows Explorer will open, and you will see a zip file called "Anydvd_Info_titleofmydisc.zip" (or something similar; see step f)
viii) When replying or posting in the Slysoft forums, look for the icon that looks like (in other words, look for the paperclip after clicking "quote" or when creating a new thread)
ix) If you don't see that paperclip icon, click the "go advanced" button. You should see that icon now. Click the paperclip.
x) A small pop-up screen should appear (if it doesn't please ensure your browser is enabled to allow pop-ups from the Slysoft forums)
xi) Click the "Browse" button, and locate and select the .zip file you created.
xii) click "upload"
xii) Close the window. When you submit reply, or submit a new thread, the .zip file will be attached automatically for us to take a look at

I finally got a log file. It was endlessly trying to read or decode.

That's usually a good sign of a defective disc that needs to be replaced.

There are read errors which can be caused by a badly pressed disc, dirty disc, damaged disc, and a slowly dying DVD drive among other things.

If it has already been run, and you suspect it is a rootkit try to uninstall it with GMER or Sophos-Anti-Rootkit:

Hmmm. . . . this disc isn't a digital copy, right? Anydvd doesn't support digital copies.

If it isn't, I would trying exchanging the disc as it does seem pretty defective.
