Unhappy Problems ripping DVD using generic WMV/WMA

Hi guys,

short term user and first time poster so please forgive my nubness.

I have been trying to rip my DVD collection to my PC using the "generic WMV/WMA" setting so I can playback the movies on my xbox 360 media centre. (I know there is a setting for xbox but that creates mp4 which doesn't work either!)

Basically what happens is that after CloneDVD Mobile tells me it has successfully finished, I try and play the resulting WMV file on my PC I get the following error in WMP.

Code:
Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file.
For additional assistance, click Web Help.
At first I thought it was a codec issue so I have downloaded numerous codec packs including divx and k-lite but I get the same error.

If I create an mp4 file using the xbox setting on CloneDVD Mobile that plays fine on my PC. If I convert this mp4 to a WMV using WinFF and that plays fine but this process takes ages and I would like to be able to use CloneDVD Mobile to do it all for me.

I have attached the log files from CloneDVD Mobile for anyone willing to help to cast their eyes over.

Thanks

File Type: zip CloneDVD Mobile log.zip (44.6 KB, 4 views)

The logfile looks normal. The wmv profile is "experimental" but I have had no problems with it and WMP. Try either moving up to the latest beta (1.6.1.2) or down to the 1.2.0.1 beta (stickies with links to both near the top of the forum).

You can try another player like Media Player Classic Home Cinema (free) - that should have no problems with wmv either.

Going to try and go back a version and see what I get.

I reverted back to 1.2.0.1 and that works great! Thanks a lot!
