Stuttering BluRay and Windows 7

I recently upgraded my new dell laptop to windows 7 and I have been having trouble play BluRay disks. At first, they would not load at all with PowerDVD DX, but with a software update, the disks play, but stutter every couple of minuites while the drive thrashes around.

The PowerDVD site said version 8 may not be compatible and to upgrade to the new version on my new laptop . So, I downloaded Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 3 demo to try that and the same thing happened.

I used the task manager to figure out what was running every time the disk thrashed and it seemd that the program vdsdlr always showed up on the processes. This is called by the virtual disk service (vds). I tried stopping it, but it keeps restarting.

Any advice, and has anybody had this problem. You would think more people would be having this. I tried disabling virtual clone drive and about anything else just to see what is causing it, but no luck. I am running MacAfee AntiVirus that came with the computer though.

On an aside note - the TMT3 allowed me to play BluRay from a hard drive folder . Does that still work in the full retail version?

*Update* I disabled instead of stopped the vds service and now it plays fine. If anyone knows more about vds and what I am losing, please let me know. I am not using my laptop as a windows server and I would like to think there is a better way to fix the problem.
