Default The Incredibles, Shrek, etc.

Good morning all!

I'm trying to get our DVD library backed up on our server so that we can stream them to our XBox 360 via Windows Media Center. I'm using AnyDVD for the rip and CloneDVD Mobile to do a VOB Passthrough, then changing the file extension to '.mpg' before copying the file onto the server. Everything has worked pretty well until I ran into Shrek and The Incredibles.

I noticed that these two titles have multiple angles and, when I follow this process, some of the opening frames of the titles are truncated. Everything seems to play fine as far as video quality and sound, but the beginning of each movie is gone.

I've read throughout this forum and couldn't find a solution that worked for anyone. I've tried everything that people have mentioned and nothing seems to work quite right. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try? I'm currently using the demo of CloneDVD mobile so I want to make sure it works before I purchase it.

Thanks!

When doing the Incredibles only select the 1st angle as that is the English
one. The 2nd angle is French and the 3rd angle is Spanish. I had this problem
with my WDTV Media player and turning my DVDs into ISO's.

Watch each angle in CloneDVD at 1x and you will see in The Incredibles
the title changes, as stated above angle 1 = English title, angle 2 = French
title, 3rd angle = Spanish.

As for Shrek 1, the first angle is English again and I think the 2nd angle
on mine is Dutch.

In Shrek 1 you can do the same thing, only instead of the title changing
with the language you see:
Angle 1 = Dreamworks title then Dreamworks Pictures Presents
Angle 2 = Dreamworks title then Dreamworks Pictures Presenteert

Now that explains what the different angles are but not how to fix them.

To strip out the angles I don't want I use DVDRemakePro. If I don't, then
I end up with the same problem you are having. It's pretty easy to use
especially if you are just using it to strip out the angles you don't want.
It then exports the remaining movie back to DVD format for which you
can then use CloneDVDm to convert to one vob.

A bit of a hassle but it works for me.

EDIT: As I haven't gotten around to doing Shrek 1 I thought I would give it a go.
After doing what I said above about angles, I am still getting problems with vob
passthrough as you are describing. However the DivX conversion 2 pass high quality
produced an excellent avi with no A/V sync issues and no stuttering video

Thanks for the reply Danger!

Just wanted to ask, will I have a problem playing the AVI through Windows Media Center to the XBox 360? I'm attempting the AVI conversion you mentioned now on Star Wars Episode IV. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Thanks again!
