Subtitles don't play

I'm having trouble with subtitles: I can't get them to play.

Two of the movies are Seraphine and Summer Hours (both French).

In CloneDVD I've checked the subtitle box and it shows subtitles-English.

But when I play the movie, there are no subtitles.
