What firmware version are you PS£ers out there using?

I've just read a forum post on another board from a user who has tried 2 PS3s with firmware 3.30 and a BD-R of The Losers, and no Cinavia has cropped up, but it did on 3.15.

I'm on 3.15, and Cinavia is very much active on mine.

Default Wolfman & Losers

It may be that the discs only in certain regions (Reg 1 o.Reg 2) have the protection or differences it is makes purchase and rental versions

Nobody spoke today in the German forum about problems
Protection is limited not only to the English audio track

Yeah, it sounded odd to me that they'd put it in an earlier version, but revert it in later versions.

Reading the post again, he saying playback for ~40 mins on 3.30 was OK, and on his own PS3 updated from 3.15 to 3.40 and it was going for 36 minutes, whereas on 3.15 it would trigger after 16 mins.

Maybe it's just taking longer to kick in.

certainly something that bears investigating, I'm waiting to the Region B version of Losers comes out (whenever that may be) to check it. Specifically I'll be going for either the UK or Scandinavian release.

If that is the case, it'll be hugely unfair. Then again, there are probably one or two more English speaking users than German, maybe they are assuming that no one will be pirating the German version widely enough to warrant the expense of adding Cinavia. (I have no idea what Cinavia is charging, or how, but everything else in BD world seems to be on a per-disc level...)

Maybe Sony is just feeling generous...

..right, didn't think so either.

Maybe I'll have to wait with updating my PS3 till I get a hold of Losers, and then perform a test on 3.15, and then on 3.40 (or whatever it will be at that time), to see if the same machine will trigger the protection differently.

Not defeated. Detected. A subtle, but important difference.
