Default Adverts and trailers

Whilst backing up Casino Royale, I have set the attributes for 'Remove annoying adverts and trailers' and 'Jump to title menu' within AnyDVD, but both the primary disc and the back up disc still run the trailers when played. (AnyDVD version 6.1.4.3)

Any thoughts please.

You're right. If you set it to jump to title menu it does nothing and you still see the trailers. If you set it to jump to main movie it works correctly. This feature in AnyDVD isn't always guaranteed to work.

As this is the case, it's an example of why using CloneDVD to selectively remove titles can be so much nicer/easier. There are 10 titles on the DVD with Title 1 being the movie and titles 2-10 being garbage.

You mean more than the message box tells you when you enable this function?

James thank you for the reply. I am not sure what you are asking in your question, but perhaps I can expand on my experience.

I believe Webslinger, in one of his responses regards AnyDVD, indicated by checking these items the trailers and adverts can be removed from the back up and also when running the primary disc. I have tried some other discs with trailers on and these are ignored during play back, but not in this instance with Casino Royale.

That's because that Anydvd feature doesn't work with all discs (in particular, the newer Sony/Lionsgate releases). When you selected "remove annoying adverts and trailers" did you read the warning message Anydvd gives you? That's what James is referring to.

If you're using Clonedvd, you must, in the case of Casino Royale, remove the titles that correspond to the previews and trailers (for your backup). Please refer to the preview screen in Clonedvd.

Not removed . . .
Skipped or bypassed or redirected (around)
They are skipped over (when the feature works properly).

If you want to actually remove them, you have to remove the titlesets in whatever burning/reauthoring program you're using.

Because my preference is to use Clonecd with Verbatim +R DL media and Anydvd, "remove annoying adverts and trailers" is a very important feature for me. There are no reauthoring functions in Clonecd, so one must rely on Anydvd for that feature to work (there are, of course, methods to blank, change pointers, or edit stuff, but, as I'm lazy, I can't really be bothered). Subsequently, I have a very strong interest in having that feature improved in Anydvd, but as usual, I suspect I am in the minority.

Webslinger

Thank you, I have just unchecked and rechecked the 'Remove adverts and trailers box' and now see the message James referred to. Something I had not previously seen as the box has always been checked (as far as I know) and subsequently only checked the 'Jump directly to title menu'.

As this is a reasonably long film I chose to back up using a DL disc and CloneCD. I did think the item checking process would then remove the trailers. If I use CloneDVD and select the main title, I believe the layer break position will not be in the same position as the original.

That is correct, and we are in the same boat. I too would like to see that feature improved; since there are no reauthoring tools in Clonecd, we must rely on that specific feature in Anydvd to work properly for all double layer movies. But, as I stated before, I suspect we are in the minority.

I vote for an update on this feature as I use it all the time. Although I have yet to experience an issue using it currently though and yes I used it on casino royale also and it worked for me?

Webslinger thanks;

Do you know if there are any intentions to improve this feature?
