Question

I was speaking more from both a developer and paid user standpoint. This amounts to less feedback which doesn't seem to me is a good thing.

For example, an end user using a trial beta finds a new title that has issues, but if he is trialing and trial is not allowed in a beta, then that report does not come in until a paid customer encounters the issue.

I respect SlySoft's decisions, but this isn't something that I personally am jumping for joy about, but it seems many other people are, much to my bewilderment.

Don't worry. Useful feedback usually originates from registered users.

I don't quite understand the argument that this would mean less feedback. If a disc doesn't work in beta and needs to be reported, then it's not going to work in the previous trial version either, and can be reported using that, no? The only effect I can see is an increase in reports of discs not working that have already been fixed in betas.

I wonder. How hard would it be to implement some sort of warning notice that trial betas may not work for unregistered users.

I think it's beyond fair that unregistered users get to even use the betas anyway. Usually trial software is limited to finished products so trial users don't get to use newer features that may be included in the betas.

Having said that, maybe something during scanning, notifying the user that the trial is not able to access the server so new disk X cannot be decrypted without a registration and to try an older disk may be helpful so that users don't post to the forum about issues that aren't really issues.

Just a thought.

The warning is already present. Like most warnings, it is ignored.

Owning a legitimate license has its privileges. Seems pretty simple to me.
Yeah, what he said!

Wow, we're still discussing the validity of having beta versions be used as trials? LOL! When that works out, it's great. If it doesn't, well, I'm sorry, but, too bad. As DLaD said, there is a privilege for owning the software, and that is to get the updates as they roll out. A trial is meant to evaluate the product. If you're evaluating it on a disc that's so new or obscure that it's not part of the latest released version meant for trial users, well, sorry.

In life you have to take chances then why not with software it's not any different situation.
It pays to have paid version of software.
