Default Disney Christmas Carol - Solution

I tried all of the options I had seen and then just decided to try copying the main feature only using Any DVD 6.7.3.2 and Clone DVD. This worked perfectly and the movie burned and plays fine. I don't care about the menus and special features on every disc so I suggest that anyone having a problem with a disc try this option before giving up.

Yes.
All that means is that the defect in the disk is not in the Main Movie.
It's a good workaround.

Default A different reader worked for me.

Hello all,

I just wanted to add.

I had the same problem with a netflix copy. I had them send another one and I got the same problem. Usually the second copy almost always works but not this time. I have become so dependent on anydvd/clonedvd diagnosing the problem indicating a bad dvd so I was surprised a second copy did not work because it usually does. Or a windex cleaning.

It hardly even began the Anydvd rip for I get the unable to read TS error.

So I read this article and decided to install anydvd/clonedvd on my work laptop and it ripped fine there.

So, I am another one for trying a different DVD burner if you can.

Good luck and Thanks for all that contribute here!

Default Bad discs....

I tried 2 copies of this title and tried them both in 2 burners. No dice. I've found a couple of discs in the past that refused to backup with my faster drive but did work in the slower burner I have. However, in this case, the first disc didn't work in my faster drive and the slower drive failed to even acknowledge that the disc existed.

The second disc was able to show up in both drives and AnyDVD unlocked it (just as it had in the faster drive with the first disc) but, just like the first disc, it failed to read with CloneDVD.

I was so blown away by having two bad discs in a row that I came here to see if others had problems with this title and I found this thread. I'm glad to have verification that it's a problem with the discs and not something going funky with my computer or drives. I have two Plextor drives and have never had any real problems with either of them. I was worried that something bad was going on but this thread reassures me that Disney just sent out a bunch of bad DVD discs. It sucks but it's better than the problem being me or my equipment.

When I tried to watch the second disc (after the failure to create the backup) I had major problems. I have a one-year-old Samsung blu-ray player in the living room. It was top of the line when I purchased it. The disc had major problems when played in that player. It had several short lockups and then it finally stopped with the video on a single scene and the audio playing on as if there was no problem. D'Oh! Several restarts resulted in it working for about 15 seconds and then the picture broke up into a screen full of little pixelated jaggies and the audio kept playing. Thanks Disney. Thanks a bunch. NOT!!!

I'll return the second disc as I did with the first one and I don't think I'll bother with this movie any longer. I did want to watch it and have it but it's not worth the aggravation of getting a new copy, having it fail, returning it AGAIN, etc.

Default Ripped It

Tried my disc. Failed at 1%. Tried my brothers disc. Failed at 1%.
Tried another disc. Failed at 1%. When I have an old scratched disk I often try another DVD drive, but this was a new disk so didn't think to do that until I read the forum. Put it in my older 2006 SONY DL Burner on a different computer... and it worked!
