Default DVD Fab = Poor Quality

I used dvdfab to convert tv shows (x files, Miami Vice, Seinfeld) this was prior to discovering ripbot264 (free). The quality of dvdfab is horrible with many audio/video sync problems!!! I used anydvd mobile which works great for mobile devices but I wanted my files to be dual purpose for iPad/iPhone and watch on my tv. I can't say enough about ripbot264. I use the settings for iPhone/zune and quality of 18. the picture size I always use is 640x360 even for 4:3 DVDs it puts it into wide screen with the dreaded black bars cropped off. I know the picture is stretched but I don't like black bars especially on the sides (left&right) of the picture.

ripbot264 pros:
free
works great/no audio video sync problems
flexible

dvdfab cons
pay for junk
they use others code as their own
many a/v sync problems
Terrible file structure for iTunes
Files are awfully labeled!!!!

Alienware M15X R.I.P 12/2008-12/2009 (numerous trips and phone calls( hours of wasted time) to alienware and many replaced parts, motherboard,CPU, videocard, and hinge for notebook screen as the screws were screwed into plastic, so that was the creaking noise when I opened and shut the case.

I've been unhappy with DVDFab sync problems too, hence why i hate the product. CloneDVD mobile has never let me down but as you say there are other tools with a few more options.

I've been using AutoGK and Handbrake in the past with great results. I recently discovered ripbot264 as well which i will no doubt test shortly.

This just proves it again. There are loads of freeware that does the job miles better than DVDFab. And the pesky situations can be solved with some SlySoft aid :P

Default ripbot264 & tv shows

forgot to mention when I convert tv shows I use anydvd clone DVD & select the individual episodes individually, (its long but the results are great) each dvd usually has 4 episodes, thus 4 individually labeled files, label them (s1 ep3 anydvd rules) then mount each image, select the video vob file with ripbot264. I also only select the audio track I plan to use and deselect all others in clone DVD.

just my .02
