Can someone help me with this problem? I can't seem to find how to install and configure VirtualCloneDrive5450 so that it will not start up automatically when windows start up? I want to be able to start it, when I want to so as to minimize system resources until need. Any help or references are appreciated.

Saturday, February 18, 2012 I again re-installed VirtualCloneDrive 5.4.5.0. and attempted to follow your instructions (You disable the notification icon and set the number of drives to 0.) but I can’t seem to find how to disable the notification icon and set the number of drives to 0. Can you give me a step by step procedure and or some images on how to do it?

Go into the start menu, elaborate bytes then virtual clone drive and just change the options in there, or double click on the icon down by the clock, or right click on the icon by the clock and choose 'settings'

Try Autoruns. That might work a little better, since you wouldn't have to change your settings each time you open it.
However, I don't know what kind of system you have, but unless it's pretty weak I doubt you'd notice the difference. It only uses about 1.4MB of RAM, and that's with a BD ISO loaded. Last edited by Drexl; 18th February 2012 at 22:57. |

If you want to use it (one or more drives are enabled) the VCDDaemon *must* run. Otherwise VCD will behave ... erratically.

I have this software installed on my PC using Windows XP. Perhaps these images of the installed VirtualCloneDrive software will help. . Could the instructions you are referring to be for an older version of VirtualCloneDrive rather than the VirtualCloneDrive 5.4.5.0 I installed? If you refer to the images, you will see my confusion. |

In that image, uncheck where it says "Show Tray Icon."
The "tray" is technically called the notification area, but many people - and this software - still refer to it as the tray. Then set the number of drives to 0 in that drop-down menu. Currently you have it as 1. |

I can uncheck where it says "Show Tray Icon." .However; in the drop own menu selection there is No “0” drive selection on the number of drives. The options are disabled or number of drives selection 1 thru 15. Perhaps your suggestion of “ 0” drives is meant to be disabled? See attached image |
