Those are good specs to know but what else will she use it for? Business Home and what graphics requirements does she need? And how much screen space does she want? What are her preferences that she is looking for? We need a little more info to be more exact as the price figure you gave could buy almost most laptops good and bad so you have to know what your looking at when you go and buy it.

Mate picked up the HP Pavilion G6-2006AX for $550 or so at Good Guys the other week.

Has the Radeon 7670M GPU which is beefy enough to run Diablo 3 on high, and Skyrim on a decent medium.

Only potential drawback is the AMD processor.

Well I would say decent medium is kinda bad....if your friend wants to really play games on a laptop they would need to spend more for a hardcore laptop to really play those higher games. They would need to spend close to 1,000US at least to get a good system regardless of the CPU. At that 1,000US price that would gurantee your GPU will work at higher resolution to enjoy blasting away on your laptop.
