I've never used CloneCD but 1 or 2 times, there is no need for it. I rarely deal with CDs anymore anyways.

Some people use CloneCD to copy DL DVDs to preserve the original layer break, which I feel it doesn't matter where the layer break is. CDs are an outdated technology.

Please note that it's not necessarily indicative of CloneCD being able to copy game DVDs. Game DVDs have protection on them and I'm not certain how well CloneCD tackles the newer versions of protection. If it's just pure data you are copying then it's the best

No. It won't. A working backup without any kind of emulation is dependent both on the hardware (burner/reader) and the copy protection on the game.
