Sorry about the long write up but I have successfully been using CloneDVD2 (2.8.9.9 to current version 2.9.1.1), AnyDVD (5.4.1.1 to current version 6.1.6.9) and Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5 w/drag to disk together for well over a year with no conflict issues. I have always updated the CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD with the latest versions to stay current.
I recently downloaded and installed AnyDVD 6.1.6.9 and now I cannot play newly created or previously backup disk with my optical disk drive. The windows explore and the video software PowerDVD does not recognize the drive (it says “No Disc In Drive”). Both these apps recognized and accessed the disc before the update. The backups play fine on the DVD player. The optical drive will recognize my original DVD disk, CD and CDRW disk. The optical drive also recognizes DVDs make on my DVR. The drive just won’t recognize the backup disk it created or DVD disk that are used for data storage (i.e. photos). I have totally uninstalled AnyDVD and the drive will still do not recognize any of the backup disk I've created. My drive is a NEC-1100a with a firmware set of 10FD. I recently noticed that AnyDVD displays a message something like “AnyDVD is preparing your disk for use please wait”. It never did this before. Is this something new that may be in conflict with my Roxio drag to disk? I have turned off the Roxio drag to disk (you cannot uninstall drag to disk without uninstalling the entire Roxio Easy Media Creator, I need the Roxio for my other video projects) and the drive is still not recognized. I have also read through and tried all the items on the post Frequently Asked Questions (READ BEFORE YOU POST) and still cannot get the drive to work. (i.e. I’ve uninstalled AnyDVD and run CCleaner, I’ve upgraded to AnyDVD 6.1.7.0). I have read through the postings in the forum and have found quite a few users updating to 6.1.6.5 through 6.1.6.9 and are having similar problems. Something has changed some setting on my system where my drive does not work. I know you have said that AnyDVD doesn’t affect your optical drive but the drive worked perfectly fine until AnyDVD was updated. It is a shame this is happening because AnyDVD and CloneDVD were such stable products for the longest time Please let me know if you have any solutions. |

I have already updated to AnyDVD 6.1.7.0 and CloneDVD2 2.9.1.2 and still have the same problem. Nothing has changed.

Time to get rid of this junk. Packet writing software does tend to cause conflicts--and is less stable than using dvd-ram.
1. visit http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=1307 2. a) Download imgburn. It's a free program: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download (it's also an excellent program imo) b) Go to Tools > Filter Driver Load Order. Click "Clipboard". Then paste the information you pasted into your clipboard into your next post (ctrl-v).

@ 55Rip,
It is a known well-documented fact that Any and All Packet Writing Software Programs are pure garbage and should be avoided at ALL cost. Concerning the current Firmware for your NEC-1100a. The quoted “1100FD” does not appear to be correct/valid version number. Regards, Coaster |

@ 55Rip,
Unfortunately “Turning Off” Drag-to-Disc is totally insufficient. By “Turning Off” the Drag-to-Disc software program the Drag-to-Disc software program Cdralw2K.sys and pwd_2k.sys Drivers are still installed on your Computer as clearly evident by your #7 posting -> “”Filter Name: Cdralw2k File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\Cdralw2k.sys File Version: 7.5.0.47 File Description: CDRAL for Windows 2000 Kernel Driver Product Name: Drag-to-Disc Product Version: 7.5.0.47 Company Name: Sonic Solutions Copyright: Copyright (c) 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions Filter Name: pwd_2k File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\pwd_2k.sys File Version: 7.5.0.47 File Description: Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver Product Name: Drag-to-Disc Product Version: 7.5.0.47 Company Name: Sonic Solutions Copyright: Copyright (c) 1994-2005 Sonic Solutions”” You need to completely and totally remove ALL Sonic software programs. Also for effective trouble shooting purposes strongly suggest removing all other CD/DVD Padus, Pinnacle and Gear Burning programs. @ 55Rip,
Concerning your ND-1100A Firmware. Your ND-1100A is a Dell OEM drive and your 10FD Firmware is not the most current up to date Firmware available. Version 10GE Firmware is available -> http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=301 Regards, Coaster |

Uninstall Sonic's Drag-to-Disc packet writing nonsense. Ensure the three entries I just quoted no longer appear in your filters after rebooting.

Thanks again to everyone for reponding to my post!
Coaster: A couple of years ago I updated the firmware driver for the NEC 1100a from 10FD to the latest 10GE. The update rendered the drive totally inoperable to the point where Dell sent out a Service Tech and replaced the optical drive at no cost. I think it was even out of warranty. I don't want to go down that road again! Everyone: Since I am unable to uninstall Drag To Disk, what would happen if I disabled Drag To Disk so it would not startup and deleted the drivers that are causing the problem so they don't load? Everyone: I got one for you. The other night with Drag To Disk and AnyDVD enabled I used CloneDVD to backup an original disk to CloneDVD temp folder. When I went to use CloneDVD to burn it to a blank disk AnyDVD gave the message "Warning: Failed To Read DVD" and prevented me from buning to a blank disk. With Drag To Disk still enabled, I disable AnyDVD and CloneDVD was then able to burn to the blank disk. What do you think? |
