Default Xbox 360 Hddvd Player Region Code
I noticed my newly purchased Xbox 360 Hddvd player doesn't have a region set. Should I leave this alone or Switch it to region 1 ( I am in u.s.)?

The HDDVD standard does not have the "region" concept.

The region only applies to standard DVDs, not HD DVDs, and you can set it to 1.
